Your Holiday Itinerary

 

Day 1 - Arrive in Yangon.

Welcome at the airport and transfer to your selected hotel.   Day free to relax and explore.

 

Day 2 - Yangon  (D)

We’ve arranged a short orientation tour to have a first glimpse of the unique charm of the capital. You’ll immediately experience first-hand the charm and kindness of the local people.  - Explore the city centre, Colonial Township, Sule Pagoda, Bogyoke Market, the old Post Office, Strand Road and the famous Strand Hotel. Afternoon tea at the Strand Café. - Afterwards, meet Mr. San Zarni, the most famous Astrologist in Myanmar, who will read you your fortunes and future. If nothing else, a charming encounter with a very interesting man.  - At the end of the day, transfer to Shwedagon   Pagoda to enjoy the sunset.   Overnight in Yangon. 

 

Day 3 - Yangon,  Inle Lake (B) 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your late morning flight to Heho.   On arrival, transfer by road (approximately 1 hour) to Nyaungshwe Village, the gateway to Inle Lake. Upon arrival visit this lively village and then transfer by boat to your hotel.     Overnight on Inle Lake.

 

Day 4 - Inle Lake (B)

After breakfast, cruise the lake and enjoy the beauty of these magical surroundings. Observe the daily lifestyle of the local people, called ‘Inthas’ or ‘Sons of the Lake’. Watch the unique fishermen rowing their boats by standing and rolling one leg around the paddle while holding their cone shaped fishing baskets. Visit the floating gardens, and after sailing a narrow canal bordered with bamboo trees, uncover the new Indein archeological site.  - Take a short walk towards this ignored archeological site, made up of hundreds of pagodas from the 15th century, some still hidden in the vegetation. At the end of the morning, transfer to “Ann’s Restaurant”. This Burmese family will teach you the 12 steps in producing lotus thread. Get some lotuses from the lake and learn how exactly to turn these into traditional clothes. Then, visit a small family business and learn how they manufacture their local cigarettes. End the day by visiting the weaving village, Nge Phe Kyaung Monastery and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda.    Overnight on Inle Lake.

 

Day 5 - Inle Lake - Heho - Mandalay (B)

After breakfast, visit the local market and enjoy a last stroll through town. Late afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay and on arrival, transfer to your hotel.    Overnight in Mandalay. 

 

Day 6 - Mingun – Ava – Sagaing – Mandalay (B) 

After breakfast, transfer to the port of Mandalay, board a local boat and set sail to Mingun. Upon arrival, visit the temple of Mingun and continue the mini cruise to Ava Bridge. Return at the end of the morning.  - In the afternoon, visit Ava Island on a horse-drawn cart and later explore Sagaing Hill, famous for its 1,000 pagodas.    Overnight in Mandalay.

 

Day 7 - Mandalay - Amarapura - Mandalay (B)

After breakfast, drive to Amarapura, the ancient capital, located 12 km south of Mandalay.   Visit the Amarapura craft centre and the Buddhist Monastery where over a thousand monks live and study.  - Afterwards, cross and enjoy the scenery over the amazing U Bein wooden bridge. Visit the impressive Pathodawgyi Pagoda before transferring to the Mogok Vipassana Meditation Centre. Here you will be welcomed by a monk who will help you discover the secrets of meditation. Try it for yourself in their meditation hall.   Overnight in Mandalay.

 

Day 8 - Mandalay - Bagan (B, L)

After breakfast, early in the morning, transfer to the port and take the express boat to Bagan, a day cruise descending the Ayeyarwaddy River. This trip 9 to 10 hour trip will allow you to discover the fascinating life style along the river.  - At the end of the afternoon, arrive in Bagan, a UNESCO World Heritage site and regarded as the spiritual heritage of ancient Burma. Transfer by a horse-drawn  carriage to your hotel.  Overnight in Bagan.

 

 Day 9 - Bagan (B)

After breakfast, visit the local Nyaung-U market, the main temples and pagodas in Bagan’s archeological sites, consisting of more than 2000 monuments. Part of the site visit will be on a horse-drawn carriage.  - Then, transfer to a local family’s house, where you will learn the fascinating technique of    lacquer manufacturing. Take this unique chance to create your own designs. You’ll also get to      discover the traditional way of putting on make-up using the Thanaka wood, a technique used both by men and women.   Overnight in Bagan.

 

Day 10 - Bagan - Yangon (B)

After breakfast, continue exploring the famous sites of Bagan - a true open air museum.  Visit a lacquer ware workshop, and learn the secret of this magnificent art.  - At the end of the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Yangon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.   Overnight in Yangon.

 

Day 11 - Yangon - Chaung Beach  (B, L)

After breakfast, visit a Burmese home and join the mother of the family to the market to buy all the ingredients necessary for the preparation of the national dish, Ohno Kauk Swe (coconut noodle).  Return to the house to prepare the food in the garden, then continue a sightseeing tour of Yangon. Visit Chinatown and the colonial quarters and take a stroll through Bogyoke Market.   Afternoon, you’ll join your air-conditioned vehicle for the comfortable road transfer to Chaung Tha Beach on the Bay of Bengal west of Pathein Bassein.

Days 12 - 14  Chaung Beach

Free for relaxation or personal sightseeing.

 

Day 15 - Chaung Tha – Yangon Airport  (B)

Breakfast at the hotel and some free time to take a last dip or a stroll along the beach before the drive back to Yangon.   Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be dropped off at the airport for your return flight home.
